Survey reveals short break trends

17 August 2010 15:20

AirportResearch from ActivityBreaks, the short break specialists, has revealed consumer trends are changing as holidaymakers look for the perfect weekend break. The company believe several factors are now influencing where the modern short break holidaymaker wants to book.

Short break trends

The main findings of the survey reveal holidaymakers:

- Restrict their search to ski resorts based within a maximum of 90 minutes from a low-cost airport.

- Look for flexible arrival and departure dates (in fact with ski breaks, the majority of the 2000 respondents stated this was a must).

- Have a preference for authentic, privately owned accommodation over chain brands.

- Will search for specialist added value packages with transfers and activities included

- Opt for resorts with child-friendly facilities

Managing Director Alex Reed has revealed how the research will benefit their future operations:

"Using our long experience and the results of this survey, the idea is to create unique value-for-money packages that bring together all these aspects.

"This has meant searching the continent for the right ingredients and, in some cases, opening up new channels in emerging countries such as Poland."
